Silvia Scarpa teaches Human Rights, Contemporary Slavery and Human Trafficking, International Law, and International Migration at John Cabot University. She holds a Laurea cum laude in Political Science (LUISS Guido Carli University), a Master in International Protection of Human Rights (Università degli Studi di Roma “La Sapienza”) and a Dottorato di Ricerca cum laude in Political Science - Human Rights (Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna). In 2009 and 2010 she worked as trainer and consultant in Ankara (Turkey) in the framework of the Phare Twinning Project “Training of Jandarma Officers on European Human Rights Standards” and, she still works as a trainer for law enforcement officials, personnel who will be deployed in peace-support operations (PSOs), and border guards of multiple nationalities, in the framework of training courses organized by various institutions. Her previous professional experiences include the work done as: Post-Doctorate Research Fellow in International Human Rights Law at the Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna of Pisa (2009 - 2011); Lecturer in Public International Law at the University “La Tuscia” of Viterbo (Italy) for the Academic Years 2007-2008 and 2008-2009; and Research Fellow at the International and Comparative Law Laboratory (LIDER-LAB) of the Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna of Pisa (2007 - 2008). In the summer of 2010 she participated to the prestigious Research Programme on “International Migration” held at Centre for Studies and Research in International Law and International Relations of the Hague Academy of International Law, The Hague, The Netherlands.
