Mirko Sossai is Assistant Professor of international law at the Department of Law, University ‘Roma Tre’, Italy. Previously, he was research fellow at the LUISS Guido Carli University in Rome. He was member of the Management Team of PRIV-WAR (Regulating privatisation of “war”: the role of the EU in assuring the compliance with international humanitarian law and human rights), a research project funded by the European Union 7th Framework Program (2008–11). He published a monograph in Italian on the prevention of terrorism in international law and edited with Christine Bakker the book ‘Multilevel Regulation of Military and Security Contractors: the Interplay between International, European, and Domestic norms’ (2012). He presented papers at the inaugural Conference of the European Society of International Law, at the ASIL/ESIL research forum in Helsinki and more recently at the 2013 Annual Meeting of the American Society of International Law.
