Aquiring and Assessing Digital Competence using Micro-credentials

Global programme: Erasmus+
Call: ERASMUS-EDU-2022-PI-FORWARD
Project number: 101087628
Duration: 43 Months (12/15/2022 - 7/14/2026)
UNINETTUNO Scientific Leader: Prof. Maurizio Cavallari
UNINETTUNO Project Manager: Luigi Giorgi - Dr. Elisabetta Trinca

Summary

The project aims to develop an eco-system supported by a digital platform for the Acquisition and Assessment of Digital Competence with the use of micro-credentials on the 5 digital competence areas as per the DigiComp framework.

Description

The project aims to develop an eco-system supported by a digital platform for the Acquisition and Assessment of Digital Competence with the use of micro-credentials on the 5 digital competence areas as per the DigiComp framework. The platform will be open to the community and will be sustained by the community. Central to the project, is the analysis into LOs of the descriptors for the 5 competences which will be the building blocks for micro-credentials. The platform allows educators to contribute with learning content and assessment questions to the platform, where both (content and assessment questions) are linked to micro-credentials. The system will assess the quality of the contributions using a peer review methodology, statistics gathered by the system and users’ feedback. Learners wishing the issuance of microcredentials, will be able to take a personalized assessment for a Digital competence area (1 to 5) they wish to assess and they will be able to state their preferred technologies (software, apps, Operating Systems they use daily). The system will deliver a Micro-credentials Transcript for the assessed competence, a learning path along with suggested short courses that deliver those LOs still pending (micro-credentials not issued). The user will have the option to save the issued MCs in a Digital Skills Wallet. The learner can take the assessment on multiple occasions. The system will check the user’s Digital Skills Wallet, where micro-credentials already issued are stored. and will provide those questions aiming to assess credentials not issued yet.

Objectives

The goal of the project is to contribute to update the skills of the European Union workforce as required by the evolving labor market.

In accordance with the recommendations of the Council and Commission of the European Union, the project aims to establish an online platform for the assessment and certification of users' digital skills, exploiting the use of Microcredentials.

UNINETTUNO Role

UNINETTUNO is leader partner of the Work Package n. 2 ("Microcredentials for the 5 digital Competence Areas"). The main goal of this WP is the design of the micro-credentials for the 5 Digital Competences areas established by the DigiComp 2.2

UNINETTUNO, in particular, is responsible for the development of the contents of the micro-credentials and the coordination of the translations activities of the Micro-credentials inthe languages spoken in the countries of the partner organisations.

Here a list of the main activities of the projects:

- Delivery of a training on the Micro-credentials to the project partners;

- Development of the Micro-credentials for the first area of digital competence (Information & Data Literacy);

- Development of Micro-credentials in the remaining areas of digital competence (Communication and Collaboration, Digital Content Creation; Safety; Problem Solving);
