ERASMUS MUNDUS PROJECTS
The International Telematic University UNINETTUNO, being a partner of Erasmus Mundus programme, gives to the students the opportunity to carry out periods of study abroad, participating in the international exchange programmes. Erasmus Mundus is a cooperation and mobility programme in the field of Higher education. Its main objectives are to promote European Higher Education, to extend and improve the career perspectives for the students and to promote intercultural understanding through cooperation with third countries in order to contribute to the sustainable development of Higher Education in these countries.
The Erasmus Mundus programme allow students to add to their training a particular “added value” that is based on the possibility:
- to study in third countries, living together with students from different countries of the world;
- to build a network of very useful for the professional future relationships with teachers and colleagues;
- to achieve a relevant qualification for the European and international labour market.
In the Erasmus Mundus Programme framework the International Telematic University UNINETTUNO is partner of two projects:

General information
Erasmus Mundus programme objectives
What countries can I visit for mobility programme? ? Erasmus Mundus programmes support mobility from Europe to non-European countries and vice versa. In particular, according to the Erasmus Mundus projects active at UNINETTUNO, the possible destinations are:
in the framework of MEDASTAR project: Egypt and Lebanon
in the framework of GreenIT project: Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia ed Egypt
In particular, accessing the information sheet of each project you can find the list of the universities that are part of the partnership. The possible targets for each project are those of the partner universities of non-European countries.
Can I study in the European countries?
No. In the framework of Erasmus Mundus programme, European students can apply to study only in non-European countries.
I am a graduate or I am going to graduate soon. Can I participate in the programme?
The programme is designed only for students, not for graduates. Students, who are going to graduate in the near future, should consider the timing of the call in relation to the expected date of graduation. In this case, you should discuss this issue with the Academic Coordinator of the project.
Teaching issues
What exams can I take abroad?
The educational offer of each Erasmus Mundus programme contains the list of the degree courses for which you can submit an application for mobility. The student interested in a particular degree course can subsequently visit the website of the host university in order to find the study plan of the chosen degree course and to compare it with the study plan of the university of origin. Finally, once the student has identified a reasonable number of exams (it is recommended at least 9-10 exams per year) she/he can contact the Academic Coordinator of UNINETTUNO to express interest in participating in the programme.

Are exams passed abroad recognized in Italy?
Exams taken in the framework of the Erasmus Mundus programme are certainly recognized. To participate in the programme you have to submit a number of documents, including the list of exams that you intend to carry out in the host university. This list of exams has to be approved by the Academic Coordinator of UNINETTUNO before the application submission and, subsequently, by the Academic Coordinator of the host university. The signing of this document by the two Universities ensures that the exams included in the list and passed abroad are subsequently recognized in Italy. Any change in the exams list has to be approved by the Academic Coordinators of the two Universities. Other exams not included in the agreed list will not be automatically recognized.
In which languages can I take exams?
In the educational offer of each Erasmus Mundus programme for each study plan of each partner University you can find the language of courses delivery and examination.
In Egypt and Lebanon the examinations are conducted in English and sometimes in French, while in Morocco, Algeria and Tunisia the examinations are normally conducted in French and sometimes in English.
How long can my period for studies abroad be?
The exact duration of the periods of study abroad is indicated for each degree course in the educational offer of the project. The majority of the mobility grants lasts an entire academic year (10 months), but there are also some mobility grants for a half year (5 months).
When does the period of study abroad start?
Usually, the study period begins in September.
What kind of lessons can I attend? Traditional or online?
In the partner universities of the Erasmus Mundus projects the lessons are provided traditionally, thus the attendance of face-to-face courses on-campus is expected.
Can I submit more than one application for mobility?
Yes, it is possible to submit up to
three applications at the same time. It is recommended to do so in order to increase the probability of success in the selection procedure. However, in the case if the student wins more than one mobility grant, she/he will have to choose one of them, since it is possible to benefit from
only one scholarship.
Bureaucratic issues
What is covered by the project?
The mobility grant covers: travel expenses (one round-trip ticket); a reimbursement of expenses as a lump sum of €1000/month; health insurance; tuition fee at the host university.
Who is responsible to find an accommodation?
Typically, the host University helps with the accommodation finding, providing its own facilities or identifying the external structures.
Do I need to get a visa to study abroad?
Normally yes. The visa requirements vary from country to country. The procedures for obtaining the visa have to be carried out by the student that wins the scholarship mobility. UNINETTUNO and the host university will provide a necessary support.
Participation mode
How to apply?
The period when you can submit an application for a mobility grant is defined each year for each project. The period is usually from January to February, but the exact dates change from time to time. The exact period is available on the project’s website.

What are the requirements to participate in the call?

NOTE: some Universities (especially the American Universities) require an English Certificate (e.g. TOEFL). In this case, the English language exam passed at the International Telematic University UNINETTUNO may be insufficient.
Does the project’s social network exist?
Yes, both the projects have the social network pages that are useful to discuss, exchange opinions and ask for information and explanation.
The MEDASTAR project uses Facebook as a Social Network and has a dedicated page there.
