Description

The MAAT project aims to mobilise young people to take action to make cities gender inclusive. MAAT project activities will help young people to become agents of change, who will make cities more inclusive and welcoming for all.

Women experience the city differently from men, mainly due to their traditional role of caring for children, elderly relatives and the sick, they use childcare, health facilities and schools more than men, and they spend more time on public transport to reach these facilities, making more stops on the way from work to home. Women are subject to sexual assault on public transport and in the streets from a young age. Some women experience an even higher level of discrimination because they belong to groups that are further discriminated against because they are victims of racism, homophobia or transphobia, xenophobia, or are discriminated against because of their age. The MAAT project aims to work to eradicate, or at least minimise, these problems in our urban communities.

objectifs

The objectives of MAAT are:

1.    To promote the elaboration of evidence-based urban policies anchored in the real needs of the population, especially women, by fostering a cross-sectoral approach in the field of gender policies.
2.    To support the educational and personal development of young people, helping them to think globally but act locally, and to guide them in identifying urban solutions that make cities more inclusive from a women's perspective.
3.    To promote digital transformation, cooperation, quality, excellence, creativity and innovation in youth organisations and to foster the further education of youth workers.
4.    To raise young people's awareness on the issue of intersectional gender inequalities, how they are reflected or amplified by urban planning, and to push them to propose possible ways to address them.
5.    To strengthen the cooperation between the partners and their network at European level by promoting the internationalisation of their activities.
