Specific objectives of the course
UNINETTUNO, COPEAM and the EIB - European Investment Bank are launching the international training project “Reporting Climate Change and Sustainable Development” that will target the journalists operating in the MENA region, in order to contribute enhancing their reporting skills on these topical issues thanks to the collaboration of qualified experts in this field.
Climate change remains a topical issue of the international agenda. It is the “defining issue of our time and we are at a defining moment. From shifting weather patterns that threaten food production, to rising sea levels that increase the risk of catastrophic flooding, the impacts of climate change are global in scope and unprecedented in scale” . Moreover, according to several environmental experts, the human footprint on natural habitats due to overpopulation and rising urbanization processes increases the risks of zoonotic “spillovers”, with new viruses and bacteria of animal origin spreading among humans.
Therefore, today more than ever, there is an urgent need of reliable and quality information about the impacts of climate change and the related sustainable development challenges for our societies.
