Description of the course

The MBA Global is structured to give students a broad comprehension of the most important concepts in management with an international perspective, but it also offers the flexibility to tailor the course to student’s needs. Aims

The MBA Global is internationally recognised flagship qualification, its distinctive specialist pathways are designed to meet the needs of existing and potential managers in all sectors of employment. 
The course is designed to equip students with the current and emerging theories, techniques, and practices of management and business administration. It endeavours to provide a stimulating and intellectually demanding environment, in which students are encouraged to engage with the academic literature, case-studies, and each other, whilst reflecting on their own managerial and business experiences. 
The course aims to prepare students for senior management positions in both public and private sector organisations, and to deal with the demands of complex and rapidly changing global business environment.
The student will acquire the competences necessary for:
  • detailed and in-depth market research both at national and international  levels
  • critical analysis and evaluation of such data including an assessment of the pertinence of the data
  • synthesis and presentation of data (quantitative and qualitative)
  • leading and managing the implementation of strategic and operational management theories
  • amalgamating creativity with integrity

A. KNOWLEDGE  and UNDERSTANDING 

  • MA1.   Apply management concepts and business philosophies, analysing, evaluating and assessing  the impact these can have in today's business environment
  • MA2.   Critically evaluate theoretical underpinnings of functional disciplines and how these can contribute to management principles
  • MA3.   Demonstrate the effectiveness of management 'tools' in making strategic decisions and a critical evaluation and application of each
  • MA4.    Synthesise a comprehensive in-depth knowledge of the various  management functions within areas of specialisation and interact across disciplines

B. COGNITIVE and INTELLECTUAL SKILLS

  • MB1.   Critically reason and analyse complex business issues both systematically and innovatively 
  • MB2.    Integrate and rigorously evaluate business and management disciplines, using a variety of        sources

Learning and Teaching strategy 


The learning and teaching strategy is underpinned by current research as well as the requirements of professional practice and reflects the learning outcomes of the programme. The learning and teaching strategy relates to, and is tested by the assessment requirements.  It provides the students with a learning environment that will incorporate a variety of teaching and learning methods such as:
  • dissemination of information and facilitation of learning via lectures, seminars and internet,
  • debate and discussion in seminars / plenary sessions/ on-line discussion boards,
  • analysis and synthesis of case studies to expose students to the complexities and intricacies of business related problems,
  • directed reading through the use of texts / articles / hand-outs,
  • individual and / or group presentations
  • development of a research proposal culminating in the completion of a project.
Emphasis is placed on participative and interactive activities designed to encourage original, creative and reflective thought from each student as well as an emphasis on the students’ responsibility for their learning. This creates the need to divide the study sessions into two main categories to match the learning and teaching strategy.

University or High School Education in English; or
Internal Test or skype interview for professional using English as main language 

Qualifications 

Bachelors degree 2.2  or mimum 2 years managerial work experience in an English-speaking environment / company
