Rome 17 November 2021 - The final ceremony of the second edition of the “Post-Career Training School of S.S. Lazio – Youth Sector and Women’s Team School” was held this afternoon; the project, born from the agreement signed in July 2019 between UNINETTUNO, S.S. Lazio and Banca del Fucino to offer a training path that supports Lazio's young men and women athletes in their professional development and personal growth, preparing them not only for the sporting world, but also for a possible future outside football.
The project takes origin from the shared need between Società Sportiva Lazio and the International Telematic University UNINETTUNO to provide Lazio's young men and women footballers with training on topics that are important for life as a professional athlete, which, at the same time, gives them the opportunity to start an alternative educational and professional path in case their dream of becoming champions fails. This opportunity becomes even more important for young female athletes who in Italy, as in many other countries, cannot become professionals.
During the event, held at the Press Room of the Stadio Olimpico, 103 certificates of attendance were handed over to the young men and women football players and two scholarships for enrolment in a course at the Telematic University were awarded to the best female footballer and the best male footballer in the 2021 course.
"The training path, aimed at the personal and professional growth of S.S. Lazio's young men and women football players, has proved to be a unique opportunity to prepare young men and women for a possible future outside football. For this reason, we are truly satisfied with the work carried out this year with the Capitoline Club and Banca del Fucino and we are counting on continuing this project in the future with other youth sports organizations," said Prof. Maria Amata Garito, Rector of the Uninettuno Telematic University.
The areas of study were identified through a didactic calendar, drawn up jointly by UNINETTUNO and S.S. Lazio, which provided for the study of the following subjects: psychology, sociology, economics, athletic training and sports medicine. The club's young athletes targeted by the project are: Under15, Under16, Under17, Women's Spring Team and Women's First Team. Due to the health emergency, this year's lessons were held in e-learning mode and the exams were held in the same way as the previous year.
In the first year of the project, UNINETTUNO supported the learning activities with lessons from the following lecturers: Marco De Marco (economic sector and new technologies), Vincent English and Moira O'Brien (athletic training and sports medicine), Patrizia Angelini (social sector, youth discomforts) and Luca Cerniglia (psychological sector).
This year, however, the Telematic University held a lesson for each group of athletes in the legal sector and the teacher chosen was Lawyer Alessandro Di Majo, newly appointed board member of RAI, who held a lesson entitled "The contracts of players, sponsorship and exploitation of image rights in football".
This year, Konami and the FIGC have also collaborated in the realization of the project, holding a course for the purposes of the Youth Sector Coach's License Level E.
