Rome, October 5, 2021 - Acquiring online skills and knowledge related to another European country in a context of increasing internationalization of university training programs. These are the main objectives of the agreement between the UNINETTUNO Telematic University and the Universidad Nacional de Educacion a Distancia UNED, the first international virtual mobility program, independently and directly managed by the universities.
The agreement, signed by Prof. Maria Amata Garito, Rector of UNINETTUNO, and Prof. Ricardo Mairal Uson, Rector of UNED, will allow students enrolled in one of the signatory universities, the Home University, to study specific courses at the other signatory university, the Host University, and provides for the recognition of ECTS credits to participating students, in order to complete their studies.
"This agreement is important because it allows us to provide students with a degree enriched with both knowledge, those of UNINETTUNO and those of UNED, united in respect for diversities," said Maria Amata Garito, Rector of Uninettuno University. "I would like to take this project to other countries, not only European, because we must find the strength to train young people from the north and south of the world by making them getting aware of the differences between cultures and of the new values that arise from the richness of diversity," Garito concluded.
"Under the current situation, it is necessary to forge alliances: in fact, we find ourselves in a period marked by the culture of the pact, of the encounter and of mutual respect, so today projects need international cooperation. We hope that agreements, such as this one with UNINETTUNO, are the first of many collaborations that we will pursue: in fact, it is our desire not only to internationalize our university, and, in particular the Faculty of Political Science and Sociology, but also that Europe and South America become reference allies in the educational landscape," said Prof. Ricardo Mairal Usòn, Rector of UNED.
Among the main UNINETTUNO courses that students can choose there are " Globalization Economics and Politics ", from the Faculty of Economics, "Digital & Open Government" from the Faculty of Communication Sciences and "International Law of the Digital Society" from the Faculty of Law.
The two universities are both members of EADTU - European Distance Teaching Universities - and sit on the Association's Board of the Rectors.
The agreement is part of the internationalization and innovation activities of the curricula of studies in which UNINETTUNO is one of the most active Italian universities, both online and non-online in this sector, having students coming from 167 countries of the world, courses delivered in 5 languages, including Arabic, and many partnerships for research and academic collaboration with international universities and institutions.
