Uninettuno World Orchestra

The realisation of this artistic project was born from the ambitious idea of recovering the musical heritage of the Mediterranean Basin which has many identities as well as common roots and, through it, of carrying on a message of peace and of cultural and religious dialogue among the peoples who live in it. The UNINETTUNO World Orchestra was born from an idea of the Rector of the International Telematic University UNINETTUNO, Maria Amata Garito, and of the Maestro of Moroccan traditional music, Nour Eddine Fatty. It realises quite a few concerts, video production and recordings.

The UNINETTUNO World Orchestra is an orchestra including at least seven elements, coming all from the Mediterranean Basin, and it can get to a considerable number of musicians depending on the events in which it is asked to participate. Through the Arab, Andalusian, Sephardic and popular of the Mediterranean area the UNINETTUNO World Orchestra offers an extraordinary repertoire that grew over the centuries.

The repertoire includes original compositions of the Maestro, Nour Eddine Fatty and of the Mediterranean popular tradition, the outcome of continuously evolving sophisticated research. This repertoire offers a unique perspective on the Mediterranean musical scene by melting its various elements through arrangements in a classical version aimed at enhancing its lyrical aspect. The result is an enchanting journey of rare beauty and innovation in which appear, among others, compositions such as "Advocata Nostra", composed by Nour Eddine Fatty in the framework of the Alma Mater project, realised at the request of Pope Bendict XVI or the fragment "Tala al badrou alayna" of the Sufi Islamic tradition.

The UNINETTUNO World Orchestra performed for the first time on the 17th December 2012 with a Christmas Concert in the Church of Santa Lucia del Gonfalone in Rome, just a few steps from the Vatican City. The repertoire contained the Christmas songs of the Arab-Christian, Roman-Catholic tradition, including sacred songs of the Muslim tradition and original pieces of the Maestro, Nour Eddine Fatty. The concert was a big success and was aired on RAI DUE and on RAI NETTUNO SAT on Christmas night and thanks to the social networks reached a very wide audience.

In order to assure the widest spreading of the message of peace and dialogue and to give visibility to partners and supporters, the UNINETTUNO World Orchestra enjoys a full media coverage for its performance thanks to:

  • the partnership with digital satellite channel RAI NETTUNO SAT, the television channel of the International Telematic University UNINETTUNO devoted to the spreading of culture and knowledge in the Mediterranean area,
  • the time slot on UNINETTUNO.tv., the Television of Knowledge (www.uninettuno.tv),
  • the broadcasting of orchestra’s concerts on the night schedule of RAI DUE, and
  • the use of the social networks on the Internet.
